Turning Point Theatre Company

Turning Point Theatre Company was a Devon based charity founded in 1989 by writer/director Lyn Ferrand. The company used theatre and theatre related techniques to raise awareness on specific health and social issues, in collaboration with the voluntary and statutory sectors and in particular, community health agencies. The company toured new theatre nationally.
Our mandate was to raise awareness by presenting

  • new carefully researched plays
  • post-performance discussions
  • forum theatre workshops

Turning Point’s goal was to tour new drama to community venues, schools and colleges and develop Forum Theatre as an innovative training technique.

During it’s 15 year life, the company investigated a number of important issues, including retirement, women’s issues, ageing and ageism, bereavement and loss, mental illness, drugs and drink awareness, carers and young carers and teenage pregnancy.

Turning Point Theatre Company was known for its innovative work across the UK. The company also travelled to Canada to present performances and workshops.
